Neil is a recognised industry advocate and champion of manufacturing-led approaches. As the Chairman of the Hub Board, Neil drives the strategic direction of the Hub’s programmes to help support the adoption of manufacturing-led approaches in the construction industry.
Neil is a fellow of the IMechE who started his career in the automotive sector and moved into aerospace. Having fulfilled a number of Technical and Business roles at within Goodrich, he became Strategic Development Director of the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC).
Firmly believing that MTC has the ability to positively transform the manufacturing sector in the UK, his work over the past decade has focused on leading the strategic development of key capabilities including design and simulation, process and manufacturing systems development, including automation and visualisation with the overall goal of enabling manufacturing to help rebalance the economy. He’s been actively involved in a number of government and industry collaborations to promote technology and innovation whilst supporting UK SMEs and supply chain companies through the transformation.
Neil believes there is huge potential for transformation of large parts of the construction sector to a manufacturing industry, and that the uniting of complementary skills from all areas of the industry, will help to ensure the Hub delivers on its vision of a built environment that delivers better outcomes for all.
Neil also acts as Strategy Director for the High Value Manufacturing Catapult.
